# State of Connecticut Mandates Sexual Harassment Prevention Training for Businesses

Under Connecticut law, employers with three or more employees must provide two hours of sexual harassment prevention training and education every 10 years. Any new hires must complete this training within six months of being hired. Employers with fewer than three employees must provide two hours of training and education to employees in supervisory roles, and all new supervisory employees must receive the training within six months of hire. Employers and employees must comply with this law by **Thursday,**  **Oct. 1, 2020.**

In light of this new requirement, it is a good time for your business to review its Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) . EPLI is a type of liability insurance that covers wrongful acts arising from employment. The most common types of claims under an EPLI policy are claims alleging wrongful termination, sexual harassment, failure to promote, retaliation, invasion of privacy and discrimination.
